OSAP (Ontario Student Assistance Program) affidavits are notarized documents used to verify information related to a student’s financial situation. The different types of OSAP affidavits include:
Affidavit of Income: Used to declare the student's income to determine financial need. The student may have foreign income, non-taxable income or no income at all.
Affidavit of Parental Income: Specifically for students who are dependent on their parents' income. The parents may have foreign income, non-taxable income or no income at all.
Affidavit of Spousal Income: For students who are married or in a common-law relationship, detailing their partner’s income. The spouse may have foreign income, non-taxable income or no income at all.
Affidavit of Marital Status: Confirms the student's marital status, which can affect funding eligibility. An affidavit may be needed if you can't submit a marriage certificate or if you are divorced or separated and that you don't have a dependent child.
Affidavit of Common-Law Status: Confirms that you and you partner have lived together for at least one year and that you a child or children. If you and your partner don't have a child, you must have been continuously living together in a conjugal relationship for at least three years.
Affidavit of Full-Time Student Status: Verifies that a student is enrolled full-time in an eligible program.
Affidavit of Sole Support Parent Status: Used to confirm that you have never been married or are widowed, and your child or children will live with you full-time during the academic year. This is also used if you are divorced or separated whether you are receiving a child support.
